Synopsis
Interrupted at work, master safecracker Keefe Brand is helped out of a tight spot by Carol, who offers him a ride away from the scene of the crime. She introduces him to her crippled father, The Consul, a former Chicago gang boss and wealthy ambassador of a Central American republic. Pressed into service with the Consul's gang, Keefe helps to pull off a series of major heists. A spectacular jewel theft is planned as the biggest operation of all. The diamonds to be displayed in an international exhibition are housed in the safes of six different London jewelers; in one evening the gang will steal them all. Everything goes according to plan until the fifth theft, when police intervene and shoot Rico, one of the thieves. As they make their getaway, Keefe and Carol are captured by Luigi, a rival gang leader, and Keefe discovers that his boss is the man who murdered his father long ago in Chicago. He returns to confront the Consul, only to see him gunned down by the crazed mother of another gang member. As the police arrive, Keefe says goodby to Carol and leaves her his share of the profits.
