Synopsis
In the 1890's, Suzie, an 18-year-old Chinese stowaway, leaves her hiding place on a ship after it docks in San Francisco, only to find herself in the middle of the tong wars and a witness to the murder of a runaway "love-slave." She makes her escape and finds work at the Mandarin Club, owned by her distant uncle Wong, who heads the Red Dragon tong. As Wong busies himself in an attempt to seduce his niece, Police Commissioner Gordon contacts Chang, leader of the rival Black Scorpion tong, for help in averting warfare. Gordon assigns Special Agent Galen Lord to destroy the Red Dragons. When Uncle Wong discovers that his niece was a witness to the dockside murder, he sends her to his "Den of Pleasure" to be trained as a "Singsong Girl." Her teacher, Ling Chow, falls in love with her as he trains her in the art of lovemaking. Meanwhile, Chang's young bride, Heather, turns for sexual satisfaction to his "No. 1 Son." The enraged father throws Heather into his opium den where she is bound and drugged into gratifying the sexual desires of his customers. Bloody warfare erupts between the rival tongs, and Galen Lord is captured by the Red Dragons. Chang's servant Shu, also an agent, approaches the rival den as a customer in order to free Lord, but Heather (now apparently in the House of the Red Dragon) recognizes him and betrays him to Wong, who has them both tortured. As the Red Dragons celebrate the Chinese New Year, the Black Scorpions attack their house, emerging from a paper dragon. In the fighting, both Chang and Wong are killed, and Galen Lord leads police in taking control of the House of the Red Dragon. Suzie soon receives genuine immigration papers, and, with her teacher, plans to reopen the house of pleasure.
