Synopsis
An old astronomer, searching for the psychological influences that molded him, looks back and views himself as a young man having homosexual tendencies. His experiences are expressed in surrealistic and abstract dream passages: a blue Buddha dissolves into a gray teddy bear and begins to cry; a little girl knifes a pig and extracts a baby doll from its body; a boy buries a pile of Cheerios and urinates on the grave; 60 white gloves run across the floor; the gloves are seen floating in a pond around a large glass bowl in which a nude boy lies curled; pieces of plaster reassemble into a bust of Dante; an egg cracks, and marbles issue forth and decompose; a bridegroom at his wedding steps on an egg, and spiders rush from beneath his shoe; in bed, the man kisses his wife, and she is transformed into a succession of men, presumably his lovers; the man roams nude through a dark cave.
