Synopsis

Musashi Miyamoto, a wandering samurai, is challenged to a duel by his rival, Kojiro Sasaki, but Miyamoto requests a meeting at a later time. Followed by two women who love him, Miyamoto settles in an area where local farmers have been plagued by bandits. He teaches his neighbors self-defense, but the bandits use one of his women and through trickery attack the village. The woman dies, and Miyamoto is about to settle down with Otsu, his other follower, when he receives a new challenge from Sasaki. The two samurai meet on Ganryu Island; Miyamoto wins the duel and afterwards returns to his home, hoping for an end to his troubles.
