Synopsis

Geraldine, the daughter of a wealthy New Yorker, plans to leave Hungary and return to America after a seven-year absence. At a masked ball given in Geraldine's honor, Count Carlos Kinski sees the young American and immediately falls in love with her but is unable to discover her identity. By chance, however, the two meet again on the boat bound for New York and romance blossoms and grows until Fräulein Handt, a family friend, accuses the count of a scandalous past. According to Handt, the count was responsible for the suicide of an American girl whom he seduced and then jilted in London. Determined to clear himself, the count has proof sent from Hungary that the man Handt remembers is, in fact, his elder brother. Happy once more, the couple weds and returns to Hungary where the count has bought a prosperous vineyard.
