Synopsis

In 1857, when Ram, High Priest outside Delhi, urges his people to overthrow the British, General Kimber sends Captain Arlington and Lieutenant Shannon to quiet the rebellion. Both officers love Dora, Kimber's daughter, but she prefers Shannon, which incurs the jealousy of Arlington, despite his affair with Dora's maid Surrada. Soon the native soldiers rise against the British officers. Arlington flees in fear, but Shannon rallies his men. The natives are victorious, however, and, at the pleading of the British women and children, Shannon explodes the munitions arsenal in which they are sheltered. Arlington, thinking Shannon dead, goes to Kimber to report the defeat. Soon thereafter Dora is captured by King Shah of Delhi. Surrada escapes and tells Kimber, who sends Arlington to rescue Dora even though Shannon is found alive. When Arlington and Surrada stop at a temple, he steals a sacred gem, and the natives pursue and kill him. In the end, Shannon successfully rescues Dora.
