Synopsis

While returning from a holiday in Egypt, young American Bruce Morson is robbed of some valuable jewels in his London hotel. He follows the crooks to Calais where they are staying on the yacht The Spitfire , and finagles his way on board. The crooks have a forged letter from the boat's owner, Marcus Girard, and they convince Girard's daughter Valda that her father is a smuggler who has entrusted his jewels to them. Morson is taken with Valda, who is a "spitfire" herself, but she makes him work his passage to New York when the crooks tell her that he is a customs agent trailing her father. After many misadventures, Morson saves Valda from the burning yacht and is able to convince her and the authorities that the jewels are really his property.
