Synopsis

Because he is convinced of Nan Perrine's innocence, District Attorney Robert Kirby drops the theft charge made against her and brings her home to be the secretary for his wife Violet. Then, while Robert is away, Violet has a fight with one of her lovers and kills him, after which she charges Nan with the murder. Nan runs away and is taken in by Ralph Barrett, another of Violet's lovers. Robert then finds evidence exonerating Nan and firmly implicating Violet. Before she can be arrested, however, Violet goes to visit Ralph and drops dead when she sees Nan with him. A few months later, Robert once again takes Nan into his home, but as his wife instead of as a secretary.
