Synopsis

Elise Burleigh is doubly delighted when Oliver Strong proposes; not only does she love him, but he is wealthy enough to please her gold digging mother. When Addison Grey ruins Oliver's financial empire, however, Elise, at her mother's urging, breaks off the engagement. Brokenhearted, Oliver goes West to mine for gold, while Addison, with Elise's mother's encouragement, starts courting her. As part of their romance, she and Addison take a trip to the mountains where Oliver has just discovered gold. Then, when a fire breaks out, Addison becomes petrified with fear while Oliver helps put out the flames. Embarrassed by Addison's cowardice and impressed with Oliver's heroism, Elise returns to her old sweetheart and then, with the blessing of her mother, who is thrilled by the gold strike, she and Oliver decide once again to get married.
