Synopsis

The wealthy, widowed Wilfred Morgan proposes to Maxine, a clairvoyant, after she gazes into her crystal ball and sees a supremely happy second marriage for him. To guarantee her own future happiness, Maxine, who had been hunting for a rich husband, has Wilfred agree to a contract, drawn up by her real sweetheart, the lawyer Rufus Stone, which provides her with his entire fortune after five years of faithful marriage. Then, immediately after the wedding, Maxine starts making Wilfred's life miserable. She insists that he throw his daughter June, his son-in-law, John Lansing, and his granddaughter Paula out of the house, while she herself constantly throws parties. Finally, Wilfred goes to Rufus and at gunpoint makes him tear up the contract, after which he throws Maxine out and brings June and her family back to his home.
