Synopsis

The shades of prominent men from history gather at the River Styx to meet a messenger who has returned from earth with news of the serious problems between Capital and Labor. To alleviate the problems, they decide to send Napoleon to earth reincarnated as James Morgan, the son of financier Peter Morgan. Years later, James disapproves of his father's treatment of Edith Webb, the daughter of an inventor whom the senior Morgan had cheated. James publicly disagrees with his father's treatment of the workers and he is disinherited. He then goes to live with Edith and her father and becomes the head of the most powerful union on earth. After a three month world-wide strike, James accepts the acquiescent proposal of Capital, and the strike is settled. In the end, James's health fails and he dies before his father can congratulate him. The soul of Napoleon then returns to Paradise, his work complete.
