Synopsis

[According to contemporary ads, the film's subject is "mother against son." Modern sources describe the plot as follows: The mother of a light-skinned black family raises her son and daughter to avoid the company of dark-skinned blacks. The son, who has a dark-skinned sweetheart, rebels, and his mother sends him to his uncle's Wisconsin farm, where he is mistreated. The boy flees to the city, where he prospers. On a visit to his home town, he meets his former sweetheart, who is a waitress in a restaurant. The two embrace upon meeting, and the restaurant owner, misinterpreting the gesture, fires the girl. Meanwhile, the boy's mother's health has failed, and his sister has been made unhappy by her love for the restaurant owner. The boy manages to get his sweetheart's job back and finally persuades his mother of the error of her ways.]
