Synopsis

Biograph summary: The very boat shown in the picture was purchased by the Japanese government a few days after the film was made, and is likely to figure in very sensational events before the war is over. The tests which are shown in this picture were made before Japanese officers and are nothing less than astonishing. At one point the boat is manoeuvred like a porpoise, i.e., it suddenly rises out of the water, appears for an instant in full view, and then as suddenly dives and remains submerged except for the periscope. The members of the crew are shown entering and emerging from the conning tower; a Whitehead torpedo is loaded into the boat and fired at a mark, and a fine view is given of the vessel running at high speed on the surface. (Sold in any length.)
