Synopsis

Investigator Don Howard is assigned by the Department of the Interior to investigate racketeers who are stealing live foxes from fur farms. Don first goes to the Silver Tip Fox Farms, where owner Fred Curtis reports that no one has been able to see or catch the thieves, even though they have posted men in look-out towers. While Don is there, one of Curtis' workers sees thieves Brad Colby and Pete Ellis checking out the farm. The worker tries to capture them after seeing pelts in their car, but they knock him unconscious and get away. Knowing that Curtis has specially marked the fur pelts, Don and a woman investigator make the rounds of the local fur shops, and after an exhaustive search, find one disreputable furrier selling the stolen Curtis furs. Don almost captures the thieves, but they get away, and only shop owner Frank Lewis, who claims not to know the identity of his suppliers, is arrested. Don then decides to work undercover and poses as a vacationer with his nephew Buddy and his German Shepherd Rinty near the only fur farm not yet hit by the thieves. Don's instincts prove correct as Brad and Pete have also moved close to the Green Valley Fur Farm, and are sending their specially trained German Shepherd, Queenie, to steal foxes from the farm. After farm owners Carol Dean and her father Larry see Queenie steal a fox, they mistake her for Rinty, as they believe he is the only Shepherd in the area. Don refuses to believe that his gentle dog would harm the foxes, but nevertheless reprimands Rinty and locks him in the house. Rinty, who has befriended Queenie, escapes and is nearly shot by Carol's foreman Clem. After Queenie steals another fox from the farm, Carol sees the two dogs together and realizes that Rinty is innocent. Rinty then prevents Carol from shooting Queenie, after which Don, Carol and Buddy follow Queenie to her house. Don overhears Brad and Pete discussing the foxes and sends Carol and Buddy to get the rangers. Don, meanwhile, goes into the house, but is knocked out by the thieves, who then try to escape. Rinty and Queenie attack the criminals and prevent them from escaping until Don revives and holds the men at gunpoint. The rangers arrest Brad and Pete, and after seeing Carol's encouraging smile, Don decides to start a real vacation, while Queenie and Rinty vacation together as well.
