Synopsis

Paroled from reform school, Mari, a rebellious teenager, is sent to a small town to work, but instead she returns to her home in Stockholm where she belonged to a teenage gang. She is seduced by her lecherous American uncle and runs away into the countryside when she is discovered by her parents. During her travels she meets a poet, a businessman, several truck drivers, and a group of youths out for a joy ride. Sex becomes a casual affair. Returning to Stockholm, she looks up her old boyfriend Money, but she is disappointed to find him with another girl. After a one night affair with a motorcyclist, she moves in with Natan, a drug addict and dealer, but she is followed by police, who have been keeping Natan under surveillance. Stefan, a young student, helps her escape and invites her to stay with him. Mari introduces Stefan to her mother as her fiancé, but when he leaves her alone one night, she visits Money again. When Money refuses to take her back into his gang, Mari gets drunk in desperation and returns to Natan's house. Here the police pick her up and return her to the reform school for violating her parole.
