Synopsis

Komajuro and his troupe of actors arrive at a small seaside town to perform traditional Japanese drama. He meets Oyoshi, his former mistress, and their illegitimate son, Kiyoshi. Neglecting his responsibility to the troupe, Komajuro spends most of his time with his son, who knows him only as an uncle. Sumiko, Komajuro's present mistress, learns of Komajuro's behavior and plots to have Kayo, a pretty young actress, seduce the son. The plan fails when Kayo and Kiyoshi fall in love, and the troupe is forced to disband in financial ruin. Nevertheless, Komajuro again abandons Oyoshi and continues his travels with Sumiko.
