Synopsis

At a Lucerne clinic, Blanche, a psychiatrist, treats Anna, a 17-year-old schizophrenic who has attempted suicide. Consultations with the patient and her mother reveal a history of parental rejection, as well as maternal preference for a younger sister, Mirella. To compensate for this neglect the psychiatrist assumes the role of mother, providing Anna with an alternative childhood and thereby curing her.
