Synopsis

Toshi, a Japanese engineer, arrives in Tanganyika to assemble prefabricated houses for a Japanese geological expedition and discovers that the expedition has moved to another site. Toshi decides to go ahead with the construction, hoping that his limited knowledge of the Swahili language will assist him. Toshi struggles with the strange African culture and at one point finds himself on trial for striking a native. Eventually, through mutual understanding, the camp is completed, and Toshi is accepted as a friend of the Africans.
