Synopsis
Willy, the illegitimate son of a German woman and an American Negro soldier, finds himself surrounded by prejudice in the small German town where he lives. At the age of 15, he is the only black person in town; he has trouble in school, cannot find a job, and discovers that even his grandmother's love for him is tainted by prejudice. After receiving his mother's permission, he goes to Hamburg, where there are more Negroes, to search for a better life.
