Synopsis

Walter, a Roman journalist who has lost his job, witnesses the kidnaping of his former girl friend, Lisa, who left him to marry Fassi, an older man. Walter visits Fassi but is told that his relationship with Lisa ended some time ago. Walter investigates and learns that Lisa was abducted by Lo Vecchio, a drug smuggler and gangster. Lisa's corpse is discovered in the sea, and Walter is offered assistance in exposing the murderers by Cristina, an old friend. Walter is taken prisoner and tortured by Lo Vecchio, who evidently seeks to retrieve incriminating documents about which Walter knows nothing. Helped to escape by Cristina, Walter finds the evidence and uses it to force Lo Vecchio to identify the head of the smuggling ring. At a meeting with the gangsters, Fassi is revealed to be their chief, and he is killed with Lo Vecchio in the ensuing gun battle. Cristina remains with Walter and helps him to regain his confidence and his job.
