Synopsis

Sonia, a ballerina, is secretly in love with José, a tenor who plays the tzarevitch in an operetta of the same name. She dreams of finding herself in the tzarevitch's castle, threatened with deportation by his ministers unless she can win his love. Sonia disguises herself as a Cossack, so as to approach the prince, who has forbidden all women entrance to the palace as the result of an unhappy love affair. Discovering the ruse, the prince feigns love for Sonia. Soon, however, he becomes seriously infatuated but must abandon Sonia for the throne when his father dies. Awakening from her dream, Sonia finds at her feet the tenor, who proclaims his love.
