Synopsis

Klaus Martens, an innocent West German incarcerated in East Germany, is mysteriously released after serving 5 years of a 25-year sentence. Rejoining his wife Gitta, he learns that she has collaborated with a powerful East German espionage network in exchange for his freedom. Jealousy destroys their marriage, and Gitta, attempting to leave the secret organization, is killed by its agents. Klaus, helped by several clues, undertakes a personal investigation into his wife's murder. Police Commissioner Braun trails the distraught husband, saves him from certain death, and breaks up the spy ring.
