Synopsis
In a small New England town, roadhouse hostess Janet Teel is strangled by a sex maniac as her sister Marcia hitchhikes from across the country for a visit. Marcia vows to find the killer, and with the help of Detective Rod Loring, she gets a job at the roadhouse under an assumed name. She mixes with the strippers in an effort to learn all she can about Janet's contacts and discovers that a group of them have formed an after-hours prostitution ring without the knowledge of manager Joan Reynolds. Wealthy George Harvey, whose possessive mother, Mavis, operates the local newspaper, falls in love with Marcia because of her resemblance to Janet, and he reveals that they had planned to elope. One night, Marcia is raped by an unknown assailant as she steps out of the bath. After two attempts are made on her life, she is taken hostage by the killer, George Harvey, who begins to strangle her in his careening car as Detective Loring helplessly watches. Finally, Marcia leaps to safety as the car speeds out of control, and Harvey plunges to his death.
