Synopsis

In a small French provincial town, the local theater announces a new variety show entitled "Ah! les belles bacchantes". Police Inspector Leboeuf attends several rehearsals to determine if any rules of decency have been violated. Several numbers are executed: "The Creation of the World," "American Strip Tease," "In the Rain," and "The Bathing Huts." The show succeeds in arousing both the inspector and a plumber working at the theater. The plumber's wife, enraged by her husband's interest in the nude women on stage, performs a striptease. Leboeuf mounts the stage and begins to sing and dance. The producer becomes annoyed at the interruptions, but Leboeuf finally takes part in the show, along with the plumber and his wife.
