Synopsis

Each year the fruit-picking season in the lower Rhône plain attracts young women workers from the surrounding districts. Among the workers employed on the unscrupulous Buonacasa's farm are Kissa, who delights in teasing men; Margo, a tough, hardened young woman; and the tender, romantic Josine. As the hot summer sun inflames youthful passions, Kissa sets about captivating both Armand, a handsome truck driver, and the boss's insolent son, Berto, who takes pride in his American car and lords it over the workers. Meanwhile, Josine and Armand become mutually attracted. After work, Kissa shows off at the local cabaret and delights in inciting jealousy among the men. A strike among the employees adds to the turmoil. One night Berto, feverishly excited by Kissa, rapes Josine. Armand pursues Berto, who is killed in a crash. The workers win their strike, and Kissa gives Armand up to Josine.
