Synopsis
Each weekend, Scott Bennett walks along a California desert highway dressed as a Navy submariner, conspicuously available to attractive female drivers, who frequently join him in his reserved motel room. By this reliable method, he meets Kerry Chandler. They enjoy a weekend of romance, visiting a local fair where the carnival thrills are made even wilder by some specially-enriched homemade brownies. When Monday morning comes, Kerry awakens to find herself alone. Scott has returned to civilian life, where he works as an interviewer for a computerized dating service. Slowly realizing his love for Kerry, he returns to tell her the truth, but it is too late. Scott's sister, Ginger, who believes that his weekends are spent "rockhounding," takes note of his loneliness and checks on his computer compatibility with her roommate. Back on the desert, Scott tries to lose himself in a familiar activity. He is rescued from a burly truck driver by a motorcycle-driving nymphomaniac, who wears him to a frazzle. Ginger's college friend turns out to be Kerry, who plans revenge when she learns that Scott is the "sailor" who jilted her in the desert, but she softens when she learns how much he cares for her. When Scott finally escapes from the man-hungry motorcyclist, he finds Ginger's car parked in front of his motel room, and Kerry waiting for him inside.
