Synopsis
Unable to find work in Paris, Josette, having been promised a job at a bar owned by Gofferi, a member of a vicious narcotics and white slavery ring, travels to South America. She becomes engaged to ship's crewman Henri in the course of the crossing. Gofferi soon sells Josette to Mottia, who uses drugs as well as violence to force women into compliance. Josette rebels and is brutally punished. Mister John, a mysterious character who has shown a strong interest in Josette, places her in a clinic, but Mottia fears that she will betray him and has her kidnaped. Gofferi's mistress, Bettina, falls in love with Mister John and aids him in feeding the rivalry between the two racketeers. The rival factions exterminate each other, and Gofferi, mortally wounded, reveals that Bettina is at the head of the whole operation. Mister John, actually a secret agent for Interpol, brings the case to a close, and Josette returns to Henri.
