Synopsis

Horace Jefferson Brown struggles to keep his farm and protect the virtue of his daughter, June. Salesman Jim Huckleberry's arrival saves Brown from the harassment of the sheriff and his deputy, and Jim is quickly taken into the family fold. June and Jim fall in love at first sight, and he easily persuades her and the other girls of the area to use his newly invented bathing suits for the 4th of July beauty contest. Meanwhile, boss Cyrus B. Barksnapper and his retarded son, Cyrus, Jr., offer to buy June for $1 million, but Horace refuses. Jim calls the Department of Agriculture in Washington, D. C., and applies for farm aid, but because of a government error, the Browns begin to receive foreign aid. That night, June and Jim sneak away to the barn to reaffirm their love. On July 4th, during a swim contest, Jim's bathing suits disintegrate, and the townsfolk threaten him with lynching. The Barksnappers, angered over Horace's refusal to sell his daughter, call on the militia to force the Browns from their home. Horace is taken prisoner, and June, to save her father, decides to give herself to the Barksnappers. Jim escapes the mob, blows up the jail, and rescues Horace, and they rush to the Barksnappers to save June. The government aid is straightened out; the first loan check arrives; and June and Jim gain the family's approval to marry.
