Synopsis

Trapeze artists Bimbo Tagore and his wife, Marianne, star in a European traveling circus. Before one of their performances, Bimbo's jealous half brother, Kovacs, tampers with the trapeze equipment in the hope that Bimbo will fall to his death. The plan backfires, however, and Marianne is killed. A court inquiry acquits Bimbo after he is falsely implicated in his wife's death, but the tragedy leaves him shattered, and he begins to drink heavily. As a result, Yvonne's lion taming act replaces Bimbo's high-wire act; and his daughter, Monica, is taken away from him and placed in the custody of her aunt. Learning that Kovacs plans to take over the trapeze act, Bimbo straightens himself out and returns to rehearse his act with Yvonne, who replaces his wife. A fight with Kovacs causes a fire in the circus tent. Bimbo braves the flames to rescue Kovacs, who, before dying, confesses to the earlier crime and also admits that he has again tampered with the trapeze equipment. Bimbo manages to repair it in time, and he and Yvonne are a huge success. Reunited with little Monica, he announces that he and Yvonne will soon wed.
