Synopsis

An outsider becomes engaged to a member of a small community of Dukhobors, a Christian sect of 18th-century Russian origin, who completely reject priesthood, the sacraments, and other symbols of the Orthodox Church. There are several murders, a suicide, and two love affairs in the farming settlement. The Sons of Freedom, a Dukhobor sect, adhere to the cult's traditions, including nudism.
