Synopsis
Zim, an adolescent living in suburban Paris, is apprehended by the police as he is siphoning gas from a car and is sent to a reformatory. He and Jean-Pierre, a fellow inmate, become friends when they are released on the same day and discover that they come from the same suburb of Paris. Zim tries to find a job, but Jean-Pierre spends the days with his friends in a cafe. Jean-Pierre's friends goad him into meeting Jacqueline, a young factory worker. Later that night, the gang forces Jacqueline to have sex with Jean-Pierre; afterwards, the others go to her in turn. Zim, happy to have found a job in the construction industry, attends a local dance and meets an attractive girl, Patricia; but before the evening is over she departs with a group of young men from the well-to-do suburb of Neuilly. Fighting breaks out when a rival gang appears. Police arrive; the youngsters scatter; and after the melee Zim finds Patricia waiting for him. Jean-Pierre joins Zim at the construction site, but the work proves too hard and he leaves. Returning to the cafe, Jean-Pierre is rejected by Jacqueline. Zim is offered a position in a trade school, and he goes to tell his friend the news, only to find Jean-Pierre being arrested for attempting to steal a car.
