Synopsis

Events occur inside and outside a drab, prefabricated school building. The camera pans continuously back and forth, its speed varying in relation to each event. The outside of the building is shown; a janitor crosses from right to left. The camera then moves inside the building; each view is separated from the other by a panning movement. A young woman reads a book near the window; a student responds to her teacher's questions by either nodding or shaking her head; a man and a woman throw a ball to each other; a janitor sweeps the floor; two men at a party fight playfully; a man washes the classroom window; and a policeman peers inside. Midway through the film, the camera increases the tempo of its panning across the empty classroom to a blurry pace, whereupon its motion becomes an up and down movement, which gradually slows to a halt; and the credits appear. The film concludes with the previous images in multiple superimposition.
