Synopsis
This filmed tour of Windsor Castle, Buckingham Palace, St. James's Palace, Hampton Court, Kensington Palace, and the Palace of Holyrood House at Edinburgh explores both the grounds and interiors of the individual structures. Aerial views establish the Thames as a river of palaces, and the accompanying narration relates both the historical background and present use of these official residences. In addition, sidelights focus on Henry VIII's suit of armor that made allowances for the size of his stomach, Queen Victoria's extensive collection of dolls and family photographs, the room in Holyrood House where Mary of Scotland's secretary, David Rizzio, was murdered, and the study used by Queen Elizabeth II.
