Synopsis

Yuichi, a college student and star swimmer, has problems both with his family and his love life. At home, he often quarrels with his old-fashioned father but is the favorite of his grandmother. Yuichi invites Sumiko to a dance, but when she arrives, he is so busy leading the band and socializing with his friends that she leaves with Shinjiro, his rival. Back at home, Yuichi finds his spendthrift sister has secretly stolen funds from their father's restaurant. Yuichi tries to replace the money with his own funds, but his sister confesses the theft and the father, blaming Yuichi for not telling the family, throws him out of the house. He moves to a resort town and takes a job as a lifeguard. After he rescues from drowning the daughter of a local millionaire, the man offers his daughter's hand in marriage as a reward. Yuichi, who has reconciled with Sumiko, refuses the offer, but Sumiko learns of the proposal and once again Yuichi is without a girl friend. At the intercollegiate swimming meet, Yuichi is told just before the big race that his grandmother has been hit by a car driven by Shinjiro. In spite of the pressure, he wins the race and Sumiko returns to him.
