Synopsis

A compilation of film clips, newsreels, and still photographs describing the horrors of war and the development of weapons since World War I, culminating in the use of the atomic bomb. The film begins with the assassination of Franz Ferdinand in 1914, the event which led to World War I. Next comes a brief history of the major conflicts and war-related events from World War I to the Korean War, including the Russian Revolution (1917--21), the Sino-Japanese Conflict, the Italian invasion of Ethiopia in 1935, the Spanish Civil War, World War II (fighting in the Soviet Union, France, and Holland; the bombing of England by the Germans; and finally the dropping of atomic bombs by the United States on Hiroshima and Nagasaki), and the Korean War. The film concludes with pictures of victims of atomic radiation.
