Synopsis

Toby Marino, a 17-year-old high school football hero who delivers groceries for his father, is in love with flirtatious Bunny Reese, a wealthy 16-year-old classmate. Her parents, however, regard Toby as an unsuitable beau for their daughter and prefer Phil Anderson, a rich college graduate. Bunny invites Toby to a country club dance and taunts him by luring Phil to a secluded beach. When she returns, Toby attempts to prove that he could belong to Bunny's life by taking her on a round of the night spots, financing the date by looting his father's strongbox. They end up on the beach; but as their emotions turn to passion, Bunny breaks it off, and Toby telephones Mr. Reese to explain his daughter's absence. Furious because Bunny has been out all night, Mr. Reese calls Toby's father and demands a showdown at the football stadium. Although Mr. Reese and the two youngsters become highly emotional, the patient and understanding Mr. Marino manages to calm them down by explaining that this experience is simply the beginning of a more mature love.
