Synopsis

In the West in 1885, the feud between the Griffith and Drummond families flares into renewed violence when several of the Griffiths show up at a Drummond funeral and fire shots into the coffin. A short time later, Gerry, a violin-playing stranger, arrives at the local saloon. Before long he kills one of the Griffith sons, who has forced him into a showdown. He learns that Lisa, old Drummond's daughter, is being persistently wooed by the eldest Griffith son, Chester. The sheriff discovers that Gerry is actually the renowned gunman Johnny Ringo and has him escorted out of town. But Chester and his band attack, kill the sheriff's men, and bury Ringo up to his neck in sand. With Ringo believed dead, Lisa decides to marry Chester in the hope that their union will bring peace between the two families. Secretly, however, Chester plans the marriage to seize the Drummond property. Meanwhile, Ringo, rescued by an old man, kills an outlaw hired by the Griffiths. As the wedding ceremony is being performed, Ringo arrives and demands a showdown. By the end of the gun battle, all of the Griffiths lie dead. With peace restored, Lisa and Gerry decide to make a better future in another town and leave with the sheriff's good wishes.
