Synopsis

So Ta-kuei, feared lost at sea, returns home to his Chinese village. On its shore stand figures of rock said to represent women who have lost their men at sea. Reunited with Lin Chiu-tse, a childhood friend just returned from the city, So Ta-kuei falls in love. His rival for Lin Chiu-tse, however, is his friend Chin Yu, a college student and mechanic. When Ta-kuei disappears in a typhoon, Lin Chiu-tse realizes she loves Chin Yu. Spurred by Lin Chiu-tse's father's insistence that his future son-in-law own his own boat, Chin Yu acquires a junk. Wedding preparations are interrupted when Ta-kuei returns home after being saved by a ship. The two men quarrel but are reconciled when Ta-kuei rescues Chin Yu from some thugs. Ta-kuei later falls in love with Tseng Ah-feng and joins his former rival in fishing expeditions. The men are lost at sea, and two new rock figures appear on the beach.
