Synopsis

The film traces the life of Benito Mussolini from 1914 to his death at the hands of Italian partisans in 1945. Authentic newsreel footage shows the rise of fascism in Italy. There are scenes of Mussolini as the crusading editor of a Milanese newspaper, the founding of the Fascist Party in 1919, the march on Rome in 1922, and the collapse of King Vittorio Emmanuel's reign. In addition, scenes of Mussolini's private life are shown, as are scenes of major historical events, including the Ethiopian campaign, the alliance with Hitler, and Italy's participation in World War II.
