Synopsis
Magistrate Del Russo presides over four cases brought before him. ADULTERY IN 16MM: Elena brings her traveling salesman husband to court on charges of abandonment, but he claims that he has evidence collected by hidden home movie cameras that Elena has been having an affair with another man. Despite objections by Elena and, oddly, her husband's lawyer, the films are shown in court and the "other man" proves to be the lawyer. THE PRIEST AND THE PROSTITUTE: Don Michele, a young priest, is charged with wrecking a pool room. He explains that he was robbed by Anna, a prostitute, who gave the money to her procurer. In an attempt to retrieve the money he followed the pimp to a pool room and a fight ensued. However, when the priest insists that he gave the money to Anna to start a new life and that he will take the punishment, the judge, humbled by Don Michele's goodness, gives the priest a suspended sentence. INDECENT EXPOSURE: Meniconi is arrested for indecent exposure but insists that he is an innocent health buff. As part of his regimen he often goes swimming in the nude in a big ditch outside of Rome. One day his clothes are stolen, and while hunting for them, he wanders into a palatial villa during a party in search of help. Though Meniconi is convicted, his sentence is suspended; however, appalled that his clean record is spoiled, he leaves the court threatening revenge on the magistrate. THE LUSTFUL LIEUTENANT: Gloriana, a middle-aged prostitute, is brought before Magistrate Del Russo on charges of soliciting. Her fading beauty is reminiscent of a Gloriana the judge knew during the war, when he was a shy lieutenant. She was a startling beauty and a great singing star who restored Del Russo's self-respect and dignity by inviting him to "share" her room in front of an assemblage of jeering officers. The magistrate is unsure if this Gloriana is the same one, but he returns a verdict of "not guilty."
