Synopsis

During a period of civil wars, Lord Nobunaga Oda gains control of nearly all Japan. Tokichiro Kinoshita, one of Lord Nobunaga's vassals, attempts to enlist the aid of Magoichi Saika and his 3,000 gunners to maintain Lord Nobunaga's control. Magoichi is in love with a woman who he thinks is Lord Nobunaga's sister and whose face he has never seen. As an inducement to Magoichi to fight on Lord Nobunaga's side, Tokichiro Kinoshita offers to Magoichi Princess Kano, a distant relative of Lord Nobunaga's, as he actually has no sisters. Believing that Princess Kano is the woman he loves, Magoichi pledges his loyalty to Lord Nobunaga, only to learn he has been tricked. In revenge, he promises his support to the enormously influential priest-warriors of Honganji Temple in overthrowing Lord Nobunaga. Ultimately Lord Nobunaga is assassinated by one of his vassals, while Magoichi finds that the woman he had sought is Komichi, sister of Shinso, one of the Honganji priests.
