Synopsis

Recently having been released from jail, Arlette returns to her job as a singer at the Rainbow, a nightclub in Montmartre. Once again she enters the hectic life of the "midnight dancers": afternoon rehearsals and life at the small hotel where she lives with other performers, many of whom are striptease artists. Soon, however, she becomes the unwitting object of three rival groups seeking her former lover Esposito's stolen loot. Michaud, a young police agent, poses as an underworld figure and tries to ingratiate himself with her. Marie-Claude is hired by the insurance company to join the revue at the Rainbow and becomes friends with Arlette. And Philippe is hired by an underworld gang, whose leader is the owner of the Rainbow, to pose as a wealthy man-about-town and pretend to fall in love with Arlette. Unplanned, however, is Philippe's growing attachment to Marie-Claude; he falls in love with her in earnest and decides to reform, and the victimized Arlette is poisoned by her underworld boss.
