Synopsis

Newsreel footage is used to present the history of World War I, the leaders, the causes, and the battles which led to the signing of the treaty at Versailles. Highlights include the assassination of Archduke Ferdinand; the German invasion of Belgium, Luxembourg, and France; the battles of the Marne and Verdun; the decisive entrance of the United States into the war; the Russian Revolution; and the final offensives which forced Germany to accept the treaty and quell its own revolution.
