Synopsis

María Sol and Elvira, daughters of the Cid, are tortured and abandoned by their husbands, the brothers Fernando and Diego Carrión. King Alfonso of Castile orders the husbands to pay a fine, surrender their swords, and fight the Cid's knights to the death. The brothers seek the help of the ruthless Berenguer, who previously murdered his own brother and usurped the throne of Catalonia. The Cid's nephew, Félix Muñoz, is wounded, and a young knight, Ramón, takes his place in the battle. Diego is killed in the duel, but Ramón is captured by Berenguer when it is discovered that he is the son of the murdered king of Catalonia and therefore rightful heir to the throne. A number of Catalonian nobles and knights of the Cid storm the castle where Ramón is being held and liberate him. Berenguer is forced into exile; Ramón marries María Sol; and together they rule the land of Catalonia.
