Synopsis

The severed head of Bedrich, a butcher, is returned to his body, which is standing in front of a guillotine. Bedrich then walks back into prison (which he refers to as school), but he emerges to face the outside world. He finds a suitcase on the sidewalk and takes it home. Inside are the dismembered parts of a young woman, which he reassembles. After falling in love with his creation, whom he calls Julie, he goes with her to a seaside resort. Suspecting that Julie is conducting a flirtation with a lothario, Bedrich drags him into the ocean and drowns him. Still distrusting his "wife" and depressed at her having given "unbirth" to their child (which mysteriously has shrunk in size and disappeared at the hospital), he decides to "unmarry" her. The ceremony is conducted by a priest, but Julie continues to hound him. He finally rids himself of her by throwing her into a burning building, thus permitting him to continue his romance with a dowdy, maternal brunette.
