Synopsis

John Machihei, a nuclear scientist of American and Japanese parentage, arrives in Japan from the United States, anxious to see the sights and to find a subservient Japanese bride. Momoko, his guide, tips off her boyfriend, journalist Shin Moriyama, about John, and he tries to get an exclusive story on the scientist. Momoko introduces John to Meery Sweett, a Westernized woman, and Shin falls in love with her. Following a tour of Tokyo during which John witnesses a striking contrast between the traditional and the Westernized aspects of Japanese life, he and Momoko become attracted to one another. Momoko returns to Shin, however, and John decides to wed Meery.
