Synopsis
Coverage of the World Cup soccer series held in England in July of 1966 begins with the arrival of the players from the 16 competing nations; most of the footage centers on the four finalists--England, West Germany, Portugal, and the Soviet Union. At the early games, held in Liverpool, Middlesbrough, and Birmingham, the defending champion, Brazil, is defeated. The major part of the film is devoted to the final match at Wembley in which England emerges victorious over West Germany, and the players receive the Gold Cup from Queen Elizabeth.
