Synopsis
Lewis Cotlow leads an expedition into the Sepik River country of New Guinea to photograph the tribes living in the jungle. Accompanied by Australian- and Dutch-trained patrol officers and native policemen, the crew films daily habits and special ceremonies of native life, including music, customs, and beliefs of the primitive tribesmen. There are scenes of a pig feast, canoe races, and a type of soccer game, as well as a huge song-and-dance fest with the natives dressed in costumes for the finale.
