Synopsis

Chris Carpenter, an adventurous newspaperman set on exposing a drug-smuggling ring, is reported dead in an airplane crash in the Sacred Forest, a mountainous terrain in the Philippines that is still the habitat of headhunters. Jimmy, his teenaged brother, does not believe that he was killed and stows away on a Manila-bound merchant airship. Eluding the Philippine authorities, Jimmy befriends Bayani, a native boy who offers to help find Chris. Mike Parks, an American Embassy attaché eager to take Jimmy into custody for illegal entry into the country, finds him with Fely, Chris's secretary. The boy escapes with Bayani to the mountains, followed by Garciá, a double agent for the government, and Brownie, a traitorous American black marketeer. Annie, a mountain girl, leads the boys into the Sacred Forest, but Jimmy is caught by Brownie, who is killed when they are attacked by headhunters. Jimmy escapes with the assistance of Parks, and the smugglers are apprehended, with Chris among them. He had planted the story of his own death to enable him to infiltrate the gang and bring the drug traffickers to justice.
