Synopsis

James Brieson, a wealthy stockbroker, ruins Hutch Valiant, who soon after dies of the shock. Valiant's son Steele returns from the Northwest, where he won his fortune, just before his father's death and decides to devote his life to the cause of revenge. After Steele forces Brieson into a precarious financial situation, the latter embezzles money to cover his losses, but Steele threatens to have him imprisoned unless Brieson's daughter Janice agrees to become his wife. The marriage is an unhappy one until Steele becomes jealous of another man's attentions to her. She returns to her father, but Steele, realizing he loves her, follows her, narrowly rescuing her when her yacht explodes. As he pulls her from the water, she remarks, "I knew you would come, for I called you."
